Club and Ground details

Santiago Bernabeu

City / Town

Real Madrid is the most successful team in Spanish football and was voted by FIFA as the most successful football club of the 20th century, having won a record 31 La Liga titles, 17 Spanish "Copa del Rey" Cups, eight Spanish Super Cups, a record 9 UEFA Champions Leagues, 2 UEFA Cups, 1 UEFA Supercup, and 3 Intercontinental Cups. Real Madrid was a founding member of FIFA and the now-defunct G–14 group of Europe's leading football clubs as well as its replacement, the European Club Association. The word "Real" in the club's name is the Spanish term for "royal", and was given by the King Alfonso XIII in 1920 together with the royal crown in the emblem – several other Spanish football teams also received this royal distinction: Real Sociedad, Real Unión de Irún, Real Betis, and Real Zaragoza.

How to Get to Santiago Bernabeu?

Many visitors who stay down near Puerta del Sol and Gran Via choose to walk up to the ground though be warned it will take you around 45 minutes. If you don't fancy the stroll then underground is the most common way of getting there. Get on the dark blue line 10 in the direction of Fuencarral and get off at Santiago Bernabeu.

See Map below with the pictures.

Away Supporters Area at Santiago Bernabeu

At Real Madrid away fans are allocated the 4th tier in the North East corner of the ground accessed via Torre D (or tower D). From which the view is best described as "birds eye". You'll be able to see all the action as the pitch view is unobstructed but the detail of a hard tackle or a penalty decision will escape you.
From the front of the 4th tier and extending upwards to the roof there is a mesh net to stop objects being thrown on the pitch or Real Madrid fans below. The area includes toilets and one snack bar that gets rammed! Note that the "beer" served inside the ground is alcohol free!

Pre Match Drinks For The Match at Santiago Bernabeu

To the North of the stadium and between Metro Cuzco and the away enterance the zone is full of bars that cater to football supporters of both teams. The Southern side is a real "no go area" as the local neanderthals tend to congregate in the bars and street in this area. If you see a Burger King you're in the wrong place.
The streets around the stadium are full of merchandising stalls and refreshment stands but they do not sell alcohol.

Stadium Tour of Santiago Bernabeu

A stadium tour at the Santiago Bernabeu is highly recommended, Real Madrid is one of the most successful clubs in the world, if not THE most successful. Stadium Tours are available all year (except 25th December and January 1st.). Even open on matchdays, but with no dressingroom access though. Book / Check prices here.
